Renrow Steel is a growing business in the structural steel, architectural steel, and metalwork industry in Canberra. We work for leading commercial and residential builders on a variety of projects. What we need from you
As the HR Coordinator, your contributions will be critical in the continued implementation and development of our HR practices that aim to provide the best possible working conditions for our dynamic team.
This temporary role will lead the HR activities across the complete employee lifecycle, partnering with managers and providing high level advice and support to management in the development of workplace policies, workforce capabilities, and the delivery of employee services.

You day-to-day experience will include, but won’t be limited to:
– Support the design, delivery, and execution of the HR Strategy and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy (2022-2024).
– Management and maintenance of our HRMS systems.
– Leading recruitment, onboarding and offboarding activities.
– Oversee payroll and ensure that conditions are processed efficiently and correctly; adhering to legislation, including leave management.
– Working with our Director to drive training and learning initiatives across the business.
– Co-ordinate injury management processes, including Workers Compensation claims and Rehabilitation matters.
– Oversee and coordinate apprenticeship contracts, opportunities and workplace obligations.
– Provide managers and staff with accurate IR advice on policies, procedures, applicable legislation, and contemporary HR practices, seeking specialist technical legal advice as required.
– Review and keep up to date with Fair Work Australia and legislation updates; as well as HR trends and changes.
– Provide support and advice for employee-related queries; resolving or escalating where required.
– Promote in-house initiatives to support staff well-being.
– Undertake any other tasks, duties or specific projects within your area of skills and expertise, as required.
To achieve this, we anticipate you will have a proven track record in a HR role and a strong understanding of the Construction and related industry awards or an ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
You will have a natural desire to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as the experience to allow you to work individually taking ownership of this important business area.

To be successful, you will bring:
– A modern approach to Human Resources
– Experience using HRIS platforms (Employment Hero experience highly desirable)
– Industry background in Construction or Engineering with relevant HR Advisory level experience
– Solid experience to autonomously drive recruitment, employee engagement and performance management with people managers.
– Ability to influence and work strategically with stakeholders to drive positive people outcomes.
– Experience contributing to employee engagement initiatives and building a strong, positive workplace culture.
– Ability to work autonomously and organise own workload.

Travel:
Our business has two office locations which administer the two arms of the business. The Installation Team is located in Canberra, and this is where your position will be based. Our Fabrication and Logistics Team is based at West Wyalong, approx. 3 hours drive from Canberra in regional NSW. We anticipate that you’ll provide day-to-day support to both teams from the Canberra office, with a trip to West Wyalong required about once a month to complete any new employee on-boarding or conduct periodic performance reviews as required. All other interaction with the Wyalong crew can be done from Canberra.
